Small Business (Petit Commerce)

Work Grants

The Small Business Work Grant Program are funds that are  given to a particular person in good favor and not as a loan but as a gift to start a small business in their town or village. It is a jump start approach which in this critical time in Haiti after the earthquake is very much needed.

$100.00 American dollars can set up a person in a small commerce business. All money donated goes to that person under the direction of the Pastor and his approval.

If you are interested in sponsoring a work grant please contact us and we will send you a photo of the next person on our list waiting for a grant.

Most of these women are widowed or abandoned with children to raise.  A small business (petit commerece) is usually the buying and selling of particular items on the roadside or market with a small stand, wheelbarrel, folding cart, etc.  Some of these items are food in packages, such as crackers, chips & candy;  fresh fruit or vegetables, fried foods, feminine products, shoes, clothes, charcoal for cooking, water, cooking oils, bread, etc.

This is Yvette and her "fried food" small business, she sells in the evening as the sun goes down, this is when many people sit outside to visit and talk. Yvette has several small children and lives with her mother in Terrier Rouge.
